Noida's Supertech twin tower demolished

Beginning of twin tower

Noida-based Developmental company Supertech Limited launched the construction of the project known as Emerald Court.  The project was started in the mid 2000s. The project included the building of 3, 4 and 5 BHK flats.

The project was located off the expressway that connects the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida. According to real estate websites, the flats now have a valuation between 1 crore to 3 crore.

The project was supposed to have 14 nine-storied towers, according to the plans submitted by New Okhla Industrial Development Authority in Noida.

Why Supreme Court ordered Noida twin towers razed

The petitioners argued that the Supertech group violated norms to sell more flats and enhance their profit margins. Accordingly, in 2014, the court directed the authority to demolish the towers within four months (at its own expense) from the date the order was filed. The case then went to the Supreme Court.
According to the Supreme Court, August 28 may be affirmed as the date of destruction, with a "bandwidth of seven days" between August 29 and September 4 to account for any little delays brought on by technical issues or weather circumstances.
